Food

The food at a child's birthday party should be kept simple as their pallets have not fully developed yet. Resulting in them not liking foods with multiple levels of favour.

Some foods that could be suitable for a child's palate could be:

Rice Bubble Bars

Rice bubbles

90 grams Butter

1 tbsp Creamed Honey or normal honey

125 grams Sugar

4 cups Of Rice Bubbles Or Cornflakes

Place Rice Bubbles into a big mixing bowl. Set aside. Carefully boil butter, sugar and honey for four to six minutes (if you cook it the full six minutes the mixture will set harder like toffee!). Pour mixture into the bowl of rice bubbles. Mix together well. Press into flat tin. Pop the tin into the fridge, and when cool cut into squares.

Pizza Muffins

2 cups Self Raising Flour

2 Eggs lightly beat

1 cup Milk

2 Zucchini grated

1 cup Cheese grated

1 cup Bacon diced

1/2 Spanish Onion

1/4 cup Olives pitted

1/4 cup Cheese (feta)

1/4 cup Sundried Tomatoes

1 tsp Garlic minced

1 tsp Italian Herbs Or Tuscan Seasoning

Preheat oven to 170 degrees. Mix grated cheese, zucchini and self-raising flour together in a large bowl. Add olives, feta and sundried tomatoes, mix well. Lightly sauté chopped bacon and onion until soft then allow to cool before adding to mixture. In separate bowl mix eggs, milk, garlic and herbs then add to the muffin mix and stir with a wooden spoon until mixed through evenly. Line muffin tins with cupcake cases or cafe style baking paper wrappers. Fill each muffin tin until mix is evenly divided into 12 muffin tins. Bake for 20 minutes or until golden brown.

Mini Quiches

24 Bread slices crusts removed

4 Eggs beat

1 cup Milk

1/2 cup Cream

1 Onion finely chopped

1 cup Cheese grated

4 Bacon Rashers rind removed

Preheat oven to 180 degrees. Grease muffin tins with butter and pushes a slice of bread into each muffin tin. You can trim the bread using a round cookie cutter if you like but not essential. In a large bowl whisk eggs, milk and cream together until well combined. Add grated cheese, diced bacon and onion and mix again. Pour mixture into each muffin case and bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
